The staff of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, on Friday, staged a protest over non-payment of their 13 months’ salaries.
The peaceful rally led to gridlock in the town.
The Chairman Academic Staff Union of the college, Oyewumi Olusegun, said the peaceful protest is to drive home the demand of the staff at the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum given to the state government.
He said, “The State government is owing us 13 months salary arrears. We are being paid a quarter of our salary every month. Our demand is that the government should pay the arrears and restore full payment of our salary. We put in 100% effort we should be paid in full.”
